The lawmaker representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Ojema Ojotu, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ojotu, who serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Inland Waterways, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
His defection was announced on Tuesday during plenary by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, who presided over the session.
In a letter read on the floor of the House, Ojotu attributed his decision to the lingering crisis within the PDP, saying it had become untenable to remain in the party.
“After consulting with my constituents, family members, and political associates, I have decided to leave the PDP for the APC,” he stated.
