A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has declared plans by Professor Pat Utomi and his associates to establish a “shadow government” in Nigeria illegal and unconstitutional.
The judgment was delivered on Monday by Justice James Omotosho.
Omotosho in his ruling restrained the political economist and his group from going ahead with the proposed parallel structure, describing the move as an alien concept to the nation’s presidential system.
The ruling followed a suit filed by the Department of State Services (DSS), which had sought judicial interpretation on the legality of forming a shadow government outside the constitutional framework.
