This Nigeria news platform understands that anti-graft agency which has come under fire over the illegal arrest said the internet sensation was arrested following multiple petitions filed against him. EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale explained on Monday that the activist was arrested to respond to various allegations raised by complainants. He added that VDM would be released once he meets the set bail conditions and that the commission plans to charge the matter to court soon. “We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised by some petitioners,” Oyewale told BBC. He added, “We will release him once he meets the bail conditions, and we will take the case to court as soon as possible.
