Hon. Aondona Dajoh, the immediate past Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, has lost his elder brother, Elder Gwamile Dajoh, to death barely hours after the Speaker resigned his position.
According to reports, Elder Gwamile collapsed and died on Sunday under circumstances that are yet to be fully confirmed.
Family associates disclosed that he had been visibly disturbed by the political tension in the Assembly prior to his passing.
His death came on the same day his younger brother, Hon. Aondona Dajoh, formally stepped down as Speaker, on Sunday.
At an emergency plenary session held on Sunday, lawmakers elected Hon. Alfred Emberga, representing Makurdi North Constituency, as the new Speaker. The session was presided over by Deputy Speaker Lami Ogenyi.
Emberga was immediately sworn in after taking the oath of office administered by the Clerk of the House, John Hwande.
