The body of late former President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived Nigeria, a day after his passing at a London hospital at the age of 82.

This was confirmed by a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst focused on the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, in a post on his official 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday.

Naijaonpoint had earlier reported that the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, and Chief of Staff to President Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, led a Federal Government delegation to the United Kingdom, where they received the late President’s body.

The delegation, acting on the directive of President Bola Tinubu, departed Nigeria early Monday following the announcement of Buhari’s death at the London Clinic on Sunday after a prolonged illness.

Upon arrival in the UK, Shettima and Gbajabiamila were received by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, as well as Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum and other dignitaries.

The body has now been flown back to Nigeria and is expected to be taken to Daura, Katsina State, for interment later today in line with Muslim traditions.

President Tinubu is expected to join other prominent Nigerian leaders, including past heads of state, in Daura for the funeral.
