A powerful explosion on Saturday shook the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) factory in the Kakuri Industrial Layout of Kaduna State, leaving one person dead and several others injured.
The blast, whose cause is yet to be determined, was reportedly heard across several parts of the city, particularly in communities within Chikun and Kaduna South local government areas.
Eyewitnesses who spoke with Sahara Reporters described the explosion as severe, with tremors felt in nearby neighbourhoods.
Sources confirmed that one person lost their life in the incident, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The injured victims were taken to nearby medical facilities, including the Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna, for treatment.
Although details remain sketchy, security and emergency officials are expected to commence complete investigations to ascertain the cause of the blast and the extent of the damage.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement as of the time of filing this report.
In other news, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed the killing of more than 25 terrorists in a coordinated night air operation conducted in Bula, Yobe State, and the Banki axis of Borno State.
The Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.
Ejodame said the operations, carried out on September 18, followed credible intelligence provided by ground troops on terrorist movements in the area.
