Security operatives in Ogun State have apprehended several individuals, including suspected officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), found in possession of a large sum of cash ahead of Saturday’s by-election.
Among those arrested was a politician alleged to be orchestrating a vote-buying scheme.
They were picked up at a hotel in Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area, where they were reportedly holding secret meetings.
A viral video circulating on social media shows two suspected INEC officials—a man and a woman—alongside individuals believed to be members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
They were seen squatting on the floor as a security operative interrogated them.
The interrogator, whose identity remains unclear, claimed intelligence reports had linked the suspects to a plot involving party operatives who allegedly handed over huge cash sums to compromise the electoral process.
