The Israeli military has labelled Iran a global threat following its missile strikes on US military bases in Qatar and Iraq, describing the act as further evidence that Iran operates as a “terrorist state.”

Speaking at a televised press briefing on Monday, Effie Defrin, a spokesperson for the Israeli Defence Forces, said the attack exposes Iran’s growing hostility not only towards Israel but to regional and global peace.

“I want to say that this is further proof of hostility and violence and of the fact that Iran is a terrorist state, which threatens not only Israel, but the entire Middle East, including its neighbours and the entire world,” Defrin said.

The remarks came in the wake of Iran’s large-scale ballistic missile assault on US military outposts in Al Udeid, Qatar, and parts of Iraq, an operation Iran dubbed “Blessing of Victory.”

Iranian state media reported the offensive was in retaliation for recent American strikes targeting key nuclear infrastructure in Iran. The Iranian authorities described the assault as a “powerful” response to continued provocation.

As earlier reported by Naijaonpoint, multiple explosions were heard in Doha on Monday evening, raising tensions across the Gulf region. AFP journalists confirmed the blasts near Al Udeid Air Base, home to the largest US military installation in the Middle East.

Qatar’s Ministry of Defence confirmed that its air defence systems successfully intercepted the missiles, stating there were no casualties or injuries.

Israel has been carrying out air strikes on Iranian targets since launching a surprise military operation on June 13, intensifying hostilities between the two regional rivals.
