WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Again, the national electricity grid has collapsed for the second time within 24 hours, throwing the entire country into total darkness.
NaijaOnPoint.com.ng (NOP) reports that Nigeria, on Monday at about 6:48 pm, was thrown into darkness after the first collapse. Despite extensive investments worth billions of naira in the energy sector, Nigeria continues to struggle with unreliable electricity supply. Confirming the latest collapse, Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) in a statement on Tuesday, said there was a system failure, less than a day after Monday’s incident. “Dear Valued Customer, please be informed that there was a system collapse at 09:17 hrs, leading to a loss of power supply across our network. We are working closely with our partners and expect a speedy restoration of the grid. Updates will be provided as soon as power is restored,” the statement read.
