The footage, which surfaced on social media on Saturday, shows Dr. Walter—who was sworn into office just a day ago—leading the physical removal of the billboard at the local government secretariat. Governor Fubara was suspended in March under controversial circumstances by President Bola Tinubu. In his place, a sole administrator, Ibok-ete Ibas, was appointed to oversee the state for an initial period of six months. Rather than de-escalating tensions, Ibas’s tenure has seen sweeping changes, including the suspension of Fubara’s political appointees and the installation of new local government administrators across all 23 local government areas.
