The management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has directed all students and members of the polytechnic community to remain indoors from 9:00 p.m. daily until further notice.
The directive was contained in an internal memorandum issued by the Office of the Registrar and signed by R. I. Adebayo on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
According to the memo, the security alert followed intelligence reports gathered from the community regarding the suspected presence of armed Fulani herdsmen around Iree and its environs.
The management said the development could pose a potential security threat to students and staff, hence the need for increased vigilance and restricted movement at night.
It advised students to monitor their movements and ensure they remain indoors from 9:00 p.m. daily to safeguard their lives and property.
The institution also urged students to promptly report any security threat or suspicious activity within and around their hostels to the Chief Security Officer through the provided emergency contact numbers.
The memo reiterated that the security and wellbeing of all members of the polytechnic community remain a top priority for the institution’s management.
