BREAKING: Police commission approves promotion of over 900 officers [DETAILS]

No fewer than 951 officers of the Nigeria Police Force have been promoted following approval by the Police Service Commission (PSC).

The development was contained in an internal police wireless message and issued from the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

According to the document, hundreds of officers were elevated from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

The message, titled “POLICE WIRELESS MESSAGE” and addressed to senior formations nationwide, stated that officers promoted from ASP to DSP would assume their new ranks effective from the dates indicated beside their names.

The signal, bearing reference number SH.4730/FS/FHQ/ABJ/T.1/58, was dispatched to all zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, Commissioners of Police in all states, and other key police units, including FCID, INTERPOL, MOPOL, Maritime, Airwing, Bomb Disposal, Border Patrol, and Terrorism Units.

Part of the leaked message reads, “POLSCOM in its letter No. PSC/PROM/1/1096/II dated 20/08/2025 on IGP’s recommendation has approved the promotion of the under-listed ASPs to substantive rank of DSPs with effect from date indicated against their names.”

Among those promoted are: Maidawa Yakubu (AP126345), Edwin A. Thomas (AP129283), Chagga Yakubu (AP136869), Ofem Liket Hassan (AP130266), Sabo Danladi Mamuda (AP137436), Omini Dickson (AP134041), Bassey Alobo (AP132333), Enyinnaya Ejimadu (AP132430) and Grace Dkon (AP132337) ASP to DSP.

The full list contains 951 names, covering officers across all states and specialised police formations.
