WATCH THE VIDEO HERE There is tension at the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as police operatives have been deployed to the area. The deployment comes as the party’s national secretary seat is being contested by two individuals, Samuel Anyawu and Ude Okoye. Aside from the presence of police personnel, some supporters of both Anyawu and Okoye are present. The controversy started after Anyanwu contested for the Imo State governorship election, which he lost to the incumbent. Upon his return to the party, Okoye, who held the position while Anyanwu was away, challenged his right to return to the office. The courts have ruled in favour of Okoye, and the PDP national working committee has acknowledged him as the legally recognised National Secretary of the party. However, Anyawu is insisting that he remain the national secretary until the Supreme Court rules on the matter.
