Police has uncovered alleged plot to assassinate FCT Minister Wike and summoned Ex-SSG Danagogo.
NaijaOnPoint Nigeria reports that the Rivers State Police Command has invited a former Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, for questioning following allegations of a plot to assassinate the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
The invitation reportedly followed the emergence of a leaked phone conversation involving Danagogo and a Port Harcourt–based pastor, Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, who is already in police custody over the alleged plot.
Although the police invitation letter sighted by NaijaOnPoint did not state the specific reason for the summons, a security source said it was connected to the intercepted phone call.
According to the source, “Danagogo and Pastor Tombari were allegedly discussing a plan to bring in Israeli nationals to assassinate the Minister. The recorded conversation is now with the police, and Danagogo has been invited to explain his role.”
When contacted, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringo Koko, said she was yet to confirm the development.
“Let me confirm and I will get back to you,” she said.
The police had earlier confirmed the arrest of Pastor Tombari Joseph Gbeneol in connection with the alleged assassination plot. Authorities reportedly intercepted a phone conversation between him and Danagogo, in which the two men were said to have discussed recruiting foreign nationals to carry out the attack.
The monitored call allegedly ended with a suggestion to seek financial backing from Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to fund the operation.
