BREAKING: Senate Begins Screening of New INEC Chairman, Prof. Amupitan

President Bola Tinubu’s nominee for the position of Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), is currently being screened by the Senate Committee at the National Assembly.

Amupitan, accompanied by Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo and other dignitaries, is presenting his credentials and responding to questions from lawmakers as part of the confirmation process for his appointment as the next INEC Chairman.

According to reports, the nominee was already seated in the Red Chamber around 12:50 p.m., after being ushered in by the Presidential Adviser on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Abubakar Lado.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio welcomed Amupitan, his family members, and other guests present before outlining the procedure for the screening.

The exercise began at approximately 12:55 p.m. following Akpabio’s opening remarks.
