BREAKING: Senator Natasha reveals when she will Present Evidence against Akpabio

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has stated that she will reveal evidence of alleged sexual harassment by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio at the appropriate time. 

She made this statement during an interview on Politics Today, a program on Channels TV, on Thursday. 

Her remarks came shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) dismissed a recall petition against her.

It can be recalled that on February 28, Akpoti-Uduaghan—one of only four female senators in the 109-seat chamber—alleged in a TV interview that Akpabio made unwanted sexual advances toward her in 2023.

The Senate President has denied these allegations. 

Before this, the Senate had suspended Akpoti-Uduaghan for refusing to relocate to a seat assigned to her. Following her accusations against Akpabio, she was suspended from office for six months, with her allowances and security withdrawn. 

She has argued that her suspension was not about her seat but rather a retaliation for speaking out against Akpabio. Addressing the sexual harassment allegations, she insisted that she would present her evidence when the time was right. 

Asked by the host, “They’re claiming that there is no evidence, no shred of proof that you can present to show that Akpabio harassed you sexually,” she responded: 

“Is this the court? No, not the court. Exactly. No, no. Let’s leave that part… At the right time and in the right space, I will present the evidence that I have. But let me say this: While I was illegally suspended, I was not given a chance for the matter to be investigated.”
