The Super Eagles of Nigeria delivered a masterclass performance on Tuesday, dismantling the Benin Republic national team with an emphatic 4–0 victory in a one-sided encounter.
Leading the charge was Victor Osimhen, who produced a scintillating display to score a hat-trick, while Ademola Lookman added the fourth goal to complete the rout.
Right from kickoff, Nigeria stamped their authority on the match, maintaining possession and pressing the visitors deep into their half. The breakthrough came midway through the first half when Osimhen pounced on a defensive error to fire home the opener. Moments later, the Napoli striker doubled the lead with a glancing header that left the Benin goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
He completed his hat-trick with a thunderous strike from the edge of the box that sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Lookman’s goal in the second half added gloss to the scoreline, capping off what was arguably one of Nigeria’s most dominant displays in recent matches.
