President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised the Nigerian Armed Forces as the nation’s heroes, pledging his administration’s unwavering commitment to their welfare and support.

The President made the remarks on Thursday during the commissioning of the newly constructed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks and other facilities under the Nigerian Army Special Projects in Abuja.

Speaking at the event, Tinubu expressed profound gratitude for the service of the armed forces.

“You are our heroes, and I thank you for what you have been doing for this country,” he said.

The President highlighted the pivotal role of the military in safeguarding the nation, reiterating the government’s resolve to enhance their welfare.

“What you are doing for Nigeria is remarkable. The only way to appreciate you is to continue to show support to the men and women in uniform,” Tinubu stated.

The newly commissioned Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks is a modern facility designed to alleviate the acute accommodation challenges faced by personnel of the Army Headquarters and other establishments in Abuja.

Naijaonpoint understands that the project, initiated on November 26, 2022, by Major General Philip Eromosele and fully funded under the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, was completed on January 9, 2025, under the leadership of the current Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede.

The barracks boast:

– 16 Major General Quarters;

– 34 Brigadier General Quarters;

– 60 Major-Colonel Flats;

– 60 Lieutenant-Captain Flats;

– 180 Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Flats;

– 264 Corporal-and-Below Flats;

– Worship centres, sports facilities, and a powerhouse.

The barracks also feature a secure perimeter fence with three entry and exit gates.

Tinubu’s Commitment To Troop Welfare

President Tinubu stressed the importance of improving conditions for military personnel, describing it as a critical factor for operational success.

“Knowing that the federal government is always ready to provide what the troops need is essential for winning battles,” he noted.

He further assured the troops, “It is your welfare we are not going to compromise.”

Earlier in the day, Tinubu performed the groundbreaking ceremony for a new Armed Forces Complex located behind Lungi Barracks in Asokoro, Abuja.

The complex aims to further enhance the operational and administrative efficiency of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
