President Bola Tinubu is holding a closed-door meeting with the Service Chiefs at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Naijaonpoint reports that the meeting is Tinubu’s first with the military high command since he swore in General Christopher Musa (retd.) as the new Minister of Defence on December 4.
The meeting is coming amid heightened security concerns, particularly the continued captivity of 115 students abducted from a Catholic boarding school in Niger State in November.
The abduction has continued to raise public anxiety, with calls on the Federal Government to intensify efforts to secure the release of the victims.
Recall that on November 26, President Tinubu declared a national security emergency following a spike in insecurity across the country.
He ordered fresh recruitment into the security agencies and directed the withdrawal of all police personnel attached to VIPs as part of measures to strengthen internal security.
The meeting also comes days after the Senate approved Tinubu’s request to deploy Nigerian troops to the Republic of Benin following an attempted coup in the neighbouring country.

The session is widely believed to be an emergency review triggered by the recent surge in nationwide insecurity.
The high-level engagement occurred less than 24 hours after the resignation of the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru. It also follows a string of mass abductions targeting schoolchildren and worshippers in states including Kwara, Niger, and Kebbi.
The security chiefs in attendance were led by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede.
Other key figures present included: Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General W. Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral I. Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke; Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lt. General Emmanuel Undiandeye; Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Ajayi; and Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
As of the time of filing this report, details of today’s discussions between the President and the Service Chiefs remain unknown.
