WATCH THE VIDEO HERE President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the national assembly to approve N1.481 trillion as the 2025 budget for Rivers state. Tinubu’s request was read by Tajudeen Abbas, speaker of the house of representatives, during Thursday’s plenary. The President said the N1.481 trillion is being presented to the National Assembly in view of the nullification of the 2025 budget of the State by the Supreme Court and the fact State is under emergency rule. With the emergency rule, the Rivers Assembly is not in session and in accordance with the provisions of the 1999 constitution as amended, the National Assembly is expected to take over the legislative functions of the State Assembly. The President said that N324 billion of the amount will be expended on infrastructure, N166 billion for health, N75.6 billion for education and N31.4 for agriculture. He said by the provisions of the budget, agriculture is expected to generate about 6000 jobs and appealed to the lawmakers to urgently pass for the budget for the good of the State.
