A former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, has emerged as the new National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by consensus.
The governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, announced the decision of PDP stakeholders to settle on Turaki at 10:45 pm in Abuja on Wednesday night.
According to Governor Fintiri, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) emerged chairman after broad consultations by PDP Northern stakeholders.
Among those at the stakeholders meeting where the decision was taken include the incumbent PDP National Chairman, Umar Damagum; Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal; former Information Minister, Prof Jerry Gana; Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed.
Others include former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; former Kaduna State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau; former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi; Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro among others.
