The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has explained the source of his wealth.
Wike who admitted to owning a Rolls-Royce car said he did not come from a poor background.
Stating that he bought his luxury car himself, Wike denied claims by the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi that he is corrupt.
In his defence, Wike said he used a Mercedes-Benz car during his school days.
“I have a Rolls-Royce; nobody gave it to me; I bought it for myself. I didn’t come from the same background as Rotimi Amaechi. As a student, I was using a Mercedes-Benz. My father was the manager of so many companies. I come from a rich background but not too rich like the Dangotes,” Wike said during an interview on Channels Television.
He further accused Amaechi‘s wife of receiving N4 billion monthly from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
According to the minister, Amaechi’s wife received the funds for the mobilisation of Niger Delta women for 12 months.
He also called for the release of a forensic audit on NDDC finances.
“I call on President Tinubu to release the forensic audit of NDDC. If they release it and it’s not in the audit, I will resign as FCT minister,” he added.
