Brian McKnight’s estranged son, Niko McKnight, has passed away at age 32.
The news was announced to the public by the star’s brother, Claude McKnight.
“As the day wore on I realized, how could I not post about this? This morning, I found out that my nephew Niko McNight passed away. He’d been bravely battling cancer for the last two years or so and have a lot of feelings right now… Niko was one of those amazing kids who was quirky and curious and ridiculously talented. Amazing singer and amazing guitar player. Had a great eye as a photographer and just one of those kids that at least in my estimation of somebody you always wanted to be around and so it really sucks that he’s no longer with us,” Claude said in the video.

The R&B singer has openly disowned his four biological children—Brian Jr., Niko, Briana, and Clyde, labeling them as “products of sin” and “evil.”
Sources allege that McKnight made no effort to reconnect with Niko during his illness, leaving the young man surrounded only by his mother, Julie McKnight, and close family. McKnight says he did attempt to assist with Niko’s medical needs, but his ex-wife, Julie, accused him of being a “liar.”
Claude also added that, while he was aware of all the family drama, he would not be speaking about it, as it is not his story to tell.
