London’s Metropolitan Police announced that 68-year-old Tim Westwood has been charged in connection with multiple alleged offenses spanning more than three decades, from 1983 to 2016. Authorities said their investigation is still ongoing and urged anyone with additional information to come forward.
According to police, Westwood faces 15 charges involving seven women. These include four counts of r*pe, nine counts of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault. The alleged incidents include the rape of a girl between 17 and 18 years old in London between 1995 and 1996, along with a sexual assault involving the same person during that period.
He is also accused of raping and sexually assaulting another teenager, aged 17 to 18, in London between 2000 and 2002, and of r*ping a woman in her 20s in 2010.
Other allegations date back further, including the indecent assault of a 17-year-old girl in Fulham in 1983, the sexual assault of a woman in her 20s in Vauxhall in 1986, and an assault on a woman in her 20s in Stroud in 2010.

The most recent alleged incident took place in Finchley, north London, in 2016, involving the sexual assault of a woman in her 20s.
In 2022, The Guardian and BBC News published reports from 18 women who accused the former DJ of sexual misconduct and predatory behavior, alleged to have occurred between 1992 and 2017. Westwood has previously said he “strongly denies all allegations of inappropriate behavior.”
That same year, Westwood stepped away from his Capital Xtra show. He had previously left BBC Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra in 2013 after nearly 20 years on the air.
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy said, “It takes courage to come forward and report allegations of this nature. The women who have done so have put their trust in us and we continue to provide them with all available support.”
