 The suspended Gov. Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday in London.

This was contained in a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nelson Chukwudi, in Port Harcourt on Monday.

Fubara also extended his sympathy to late Buhari’s family, President Bola Tinubu, the Government and people of Nigeria over the loss.

He described the former President’s demise as a significant loss for the nation, acknowledging his great contributions to national development and leadership.

Fubara described Buhari as a disciplined leader, a man of integrity, and unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria.

He stated that Buhari’s years in office were marked by a strong focus on anti-corruption, national security, and infrastructure renewal, which remained part of his enduring legacy.

The suspended governor said that the late president left behind a legacy of service, sacrifice, and patriotism that would be remembered by generations to come.

He reflected on Buhari’s impactful career, first as Military Head of State between 1983 and 1985, and later as a democratically elected President (2015-2023).

Fubara said that Buhari’s place in Nigeria’s political history was as a leader who served with sincerity of purpose.
