Buhari might have passed away long ago had he relied on Nigerian hospitals – Adesina

Femi Adesina 1

THE former presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, has stated that ex-President Muhammadu Buhari might not have survived as long as he did, if he had relied on medical treatment within Nigeria.

According to Adesina, the late president consistently sought medical care in London due to the limitations of some Nigerian hospitals in terms of equipment and expertise.

Speaking during a special broadcast on Channels TV for Buhari’s funeral today, Adesina addressed criticisms surrounding Buhari’s death in a UK hospital.

He explained that Buhari had long been using the services of the same team of doctors in London prior to assuming office in 2015, and it made medical sense to continue with those already familiar with his health history.

Adesina emphasized that switching to hospitals in Nigeria—many of which, he noted, lack advanced medical infrastructure—could have jeopardized Buhari’s life years earlier.

The former president passed away in London on Sunday, July 13, 2025, and is to be buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
