The visit, Adesina noted, was primarily to personally thank Buhari for his consistent backing during both his initial nomination and subsequent re-election as AfDB President. While Adesina was originally nominated by former President Goodluck Jonathan, he highlighted Buhari’s significant role in securing his leadership position at the Bank, especially during his 2020 re-election bid. “He stood firmly by me during tough times, which was instrumental in my re-election.
