A former Governorship candidate, Engr. Busuyi Ayowole has formally declared his membership of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Osun State, marking his official return to partisan politics.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed by ‎Ilesanmi Samuel Iyanu, Senior Press Officer to Engr. Ayowole, and made available on Sunday.

According to the statement, Ayowole’s decision to join the AAC followed consultations with the Osun State chapter executives, led by State Chairman Comrade Seun Alabi, and has received full endorsement from the party’s leadership nationwide.

The development marks Ayowole’s first political declaration since August 2022. He explained that his renewed alignment was driven by the urgent need for accountability, transparency, and sustainable development in Osun State and Nigeria.

The former governorship candidate and senatorial aspirant emphasized that he had not been affiliated with any political party since 2022. His choice of AAC, he noted, represents a fresh start anchored on service, integrity, and grassroots engagement.

The statement also addressed allegations linking Ayowole to foreign donations during his 2022 campaign and claims of receiving financial inducements from political groups. It described the allegations as false, defamatory, and attempts to undermine his character and credibility.
Part of the statement reads, “‎Considering recent rumors and unfounded allegations connected to past political affiliations, Engr. Ayowole categorically denies ‎any involvement in receiving foreign donations during his 2022 campaign. Furthermore, he refutes claims that he has ever accepted ‎political financial incentives from any political candidate, group, or party.

“‎These claims are false, defamatory, and aimed at undermining his character and integrity. While such allegations might have been
‎ignored, Engr. Ayowole believes that a clear and public affirmation of his record is necessary to preserve the trust of his supporters ‎and the general public. Legal recourse is being considered to ensure retraction and accountability from those responsible.”

As part of his renewed political structure, Ayowole announced the appointment of Comrade Raufu Sodiq, popularly known as Oluomo Success, as his Special Assistant on Strategic Communications.

The statement added that further consultations are ongoing regarding his political plans ahead of the 2026 and 2027 electoral season.

Ayowole reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive decision-making, guided by grassroots feedback and the aspirations of the people of Osun State.
