The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced new compulsory requirements for all Business Name online update requests, a policy the agency said takes effect immediately.
The commission disclosed the changes in a statement posted on its 𝕏 handle on Wednesday, December 10, explaining that applicants will now be required to provide additional personal and contact details to enhance verification and improve the accuracy of business records.
According to the CAC, “Under the new guidelines, every Business Name Online Update submission must include date of birth, registered office email, proprietor’s email address, phone number for the registered office or proprietor, where different and a valid means of identification.”
The agency noted that the updated criteria form part of its broader reforms aimed at strengthening documentation integrity, preventing fraud, and ensuring seamless communication with registered business owners.

The CAC, which regulates the registration and management of companies and business names in Nigeria, has in recent years modernised its operations by migrating from manual procedures to a more efficient online platform for registrations and updates.
