Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak has been crowned the CAF Women’s Player of the Year, edging out Nigeria’s Rasheedat Ajibade at the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony held on Wednesday night in Rabat, Morocco.

Chebbak, a standout midfielder for both club and country, earned the prestigious honour following a year defined by leadership, consistency, and influential performances.

She played a pivotal role in Morocco’s impressive run on the international stage and maintained top form at club level with a series of commanding displays in midfield.

Nigeria’s Ajibade—who enjoyed an exceptional year with the Super Falcons and French giants PSG—finished as runner-up. Her brilliance was instrumental in Nigeria’s march to a record 10th WAFCON title, further solidifying her reputation as one of the continent’s elite players.

Chebbak’s victory marks another major milestone in her career and reinforces her status as one of Africa’s most accomplished female footballers. The award also underscores Morocco’s rising profile in women’s football, reflecting the country’s sustained investment and progress in developing the sport.
