Can the Snapdragon 8 Elite run Popular PC Games?

For a while now, flagship smartphone chips have been so powerful that some people even say it’s “too much.” They argue that there aren’t any apps that take full advantage of the hardware on high-end mobile devices. However, running PC games could be the perfect way to justify that much raw power. A video shows that the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip can run AAA PC games smoothly.

Android already has graphically demanding games, but very few of them are comparable to console or PC titles. There is a niche of gamers who enjoy playing titles from older consoles via the multitude of emulators for Android. However, it is possible that the new batch of flagship smartphones will allow you to play popular AAA games designed for PC without problems.

Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered realme GT 7 Pro smoothly runs popular AAA PC games in videos

The upcoming realme GT 7 Pro has been in the news lately for its results in benchmarks. Now, a video of the device powered by Qualcomm’s most powerful chip running Assassin’s Creed Black Flag at a stable 60fps has surfaced online. A closer look at the video even shows a GPU usage rate of 70%.

Chase Xu, the VP of Realme, also shared a video of the smartphone running Assassin’s Creed Rogue without any issues. Videos of the device running GTA V have also surfaced earlier.

While the games mentioned are not from the current generation, they are still AAA titles designed for desktop platforms and consoles. So, the ability to enjoy them on your phone anywhere with good performance is great. That said, how is this possible?

The games are running via GameFusion

The realme GT 7 Pro is reportedly running the games through GameFusion, an upcoming app developed for this purpose. The developers behind the app don’t have the best reputation in the industry, though. The team, also in charge of the EggNS emulator, has faced accusations in the past of pilfering code from other emulators to incorporate it into their own closed-source version. They even introduced a paid subscription model afterwards.

Since the days of EggNS, the developers have maintained a close relationship with GameSir. GameSir is a company that specializes in releasing gaming accessories and peripherals. The EggNS emulator required registration with an email and the use of a GameSir controller. We also see a GameSir controller in the video above.  Therefore, GameFusion will likely require the same once it becomes available.

For now, there are no details on GameFusion’s availability or business model. Also, you will need to take this news with a grain of salt. We don’t have official confirmation that the game seen in the video was actually running on the phone.
