The National President of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Ambassador Belusochukwu Enwere, has congratulated First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu on her installation as Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua.
Enwere described the honour as a testament to her character, leadership, and national service.
The First Lady received the revered Yoruba title on Saturday during the 10th Coronation Anniversary of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, in Ile-Ife.
The event attracted some of Nigeria’s most influential leaders, highlighting the cultural significance of the recognition.
Dignitaries in attendance included former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo; former First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan; Governors Ademola Adeleke, Dapo Abiodun, and Babajide Sanwo-Olu; former Ogun State governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun; the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III; and the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima.
The dignitaries joined the Ooni in honouring Mrs Tinubu for her “commitment to peaceful coexistence, cultural preservation and motherly roles to the nation,” palace officials said.
In a statement on Monday, Enwere said the title carries deep cultural and moral significance.
He commended Senator Tinubu for consistently demonstrating humility, compassion, and integrity in public life.
Enwere said: “On behalf of YOWICAN, I heartily congratulate our mother, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on her installation as Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua.
“This recognition reflects her dedication to Nigeria’s unity, peace, and progress, and her leadership in youth development, family values, and upliftment of vulnerable groups.”
He added that the honour would inspire young Nigerians, especially within Christian communities, to embrace cultural harmony and national cohesion.
Enwere also praised the Ooni of Ife for the “historic gesture that strengthens inter-ethnic unity and reinforces the importance of cultural diplomacy.”
The CAN youth president expressed confidence that Mrs Tinubu would continue championing initiatives promoting moral fortitude, responsible citizenship, and interfaith collaboration.
“As Yeye Asiwaju, we believe she will deepen her motherly guidance and serve as a bridge-builder at a time Nigeria greatly needs unity,” he added.
Senator Tinubu’s installation was part of a week-long celebration marking the Ooni’s decade on the throne, attended by cultural leaders, policymakers, and traditional institutions from across the country.
