Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) resolve to defend the nation and eliminate insurgents, terrorists, and criminal elements threatening peace.
During a visit on 13 November 2025 to the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) Sector 2/213 Forward Operating Base in Katsina, the CAS charged personnel to intensify efforts to implement President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive for decisive action against all threats to Nigerian lives and security.
“The Federal Government’s support with modern platforms, advanced weaponry, and training brings a solemn responsibility. We cannot relent. The nation is counting on us to restore peace and reclaim every inch of territory challenged by insurgents and criminals,” he said.
Air Marshal Aneke lauded the troops for their professionalism and courage. “We will not rest until every threat to our sovereignty is neutralised. Wherever they hide — forests, valleys, remote villages — we will find them and strike with precision. Our mission is clear: to hunt them down and protect our people,” he said.
He emphasized that operational success must be matched with personnel welfare. “A force that fights hard must also live well. Your welfare, training, and equipment will match your courage in the field. You are the nation’s shield, and your safety and morale are non-negotiable,” he added, promising further investment in technology and intelligence systems.
Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Idris, Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command, reaffirmed the troops’ readiness, while Air Commodore CE Illoh, Air Component Commander, presented an operational brief highlighting recent gains and strategic plans.
The CAS also toured operational and administrative facilities, including Operations, Engineering, Logistics, medical, sporting, and recreational infrastructures. At an interactive durbar with officers, airmen, and airwomen, he encouraged them to renew their resolve.
“You represent the pride of our nation and the hope of millions who sleep in peace because you stay awake. Fly smarter, strike harder, and protect every Nigerian life with honour,” he told the personnel.
The visit reflects the NAF’s commitment under Air Marshal Aneke to intelligence-led, precision operations aimed at securing Nigeria’s airspace and protecting citizens.
