A Non-Governmental Organisation, Center for Responsive Governance in Osun, has urged Gov. Ademola Adeleke to recruit more teachers to fill vacant positions in the state owned primary and secondary schools.
The Centre’s Coordinator in Osun, Mr Ayo Ologun, said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Osogbo.
Ologun said that the current shortage of teachers in public schools in the state was inimical and could lead to further disruptions in the educational processes.
He said that recruitment of teachers would help to prevent any further negative impact on students’ learning.
According to him, the state government should prioritise the employment of individuals with the appropriate qualifications and experience.
” Recruiting qualified teachers is essential for maintaining educational standards and ensuring students receive the necessary knowledge and skills.
” The shortage of teachers impact the ability of schools to provide quality education and can lead to overcrowded classrooms and increased workload for existing teachers.
“This is crucial for ensuring adequate staffing and preventing further disruptions in the educational system,” Ologun said .
He further appealed to government to prioritise the allocation of appointment letters to those already shortlisted to fill the existing vacancies.
Ologun advised that government must ensure that the recruitment process was transparent and fair, with all qualified applicants given equal opportunities.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
