Local contractors have besiege the entrance to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Secretariat over government’s failure to pay them for work executed
Naijaonpoint reports that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on Tuesday morning are using tear gas to dispatch protesters in front of FCDA.
Recall that last week, protesters had placed a coffin at the entrance of the Finance Ministry headquarters in Abuja.
According to Daily Trust, the contractors under the aegis of All Indigenous Contractors Association of Nigeria (AICAN) started a non-stop protest at the ministry last Tuesday over debts being owed by the Federal Government.
They accused the federal government of attempting to push them out of business.
Speaking with Daily Trust, an executive of the association said they brought the coffin to symbolize how they had been burying their members due to incidents relating to the debt.
He said, “Even last week we buried a member, Abdulganiyu. This has been going on for long. And it’s unacceptable. We lost six members recently due to high blood pressure.”
