While various Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes are showing up in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, there have been a lot of questions surrounding if Charlie Cox’s Daredevil will show up. After being part of the Spider-Man: No Way Home cast, there has been even more interest to see Matt Murdock have a full team-up with the iconic web-crawler.
In a new interview with the Phase Hero podcast, Cox addressed the theories that he is set to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, due to his filming schedule in London. However, the MCU veteran stressed, “I know they all think I’m in Spider-Man because I’m filming something in London, which I’m not, I’m not in Spider-Man.”
In Spider-Man. No Way Home, Cox appeared as the iconic Marvel lawyer to help out Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, more than three years after Daredevil season 3 brought an end to the Netflix drama. That same year, before the film’s release, Cox’s co-star Vincent D’Onofrio came back to the MCU timeline as Kingpin in the Hawkeye TV show.
While plot details are still being kept under wraps by Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, the story will explore Peter’s life where he is now on his own, following Doctor Strange’s spell causing everyone to forget who he is. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Destin Daniel Cretton is helming the 2026 installment.
Like Holland’s previous MCU films, some established superheroes have been added to the Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast, with Jon Bernthal finally bringing his Punisher to the big screen, after having returned in Cox’s Daredevil: Born Again season 1. The Frank Castle star will also headline his own MCU Special Presentation for Disney+ in 2026.
Following previous reports, set photos have confirmed Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, making it his first MCU film appearance since 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. How Punisher and Bruce Banner fit into the overall story has yet to be clarified.
The Phase 6 movie will also introduce Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink as set photos emerged of her character on October 19, 2025, but her role still remains a big secret. Michael Mando is reprising the role of Mac Gargan, a.k.a. Scorpion, while Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’s Marvin Jones III will play Tombstone in live-action, after having voiced him.
Holland’s fourth film is confirmed to have connections with Daredevil: Born Again season 2, as the show is confirmed to return in March 2026, only a few months before the film arrives in theaters. As Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still in production, the sequel is set to open on July 31, 2026.
