Didier Drogba has been a big fan of Victor Osimhen for years…
Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has revealed that he often gets flacks from Ivory Coast football fans due to his love for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world. But in his budding years, he often expressed his admiration for Chelsea legend Drogba, who was one of the best marksmen in his playing days.
In recent years Osimhen has shone like a million stars. And apparently, he has earned the respect of Drogba, who hypes him at every opportunity he gets.
During his playing days, the Ivorian was known for his perfect blend of guile, finesse, and grit. He also had a reputation for delivering in the big games.
In a recent interview, Drogba admitted that he sees himself in Osimhen. However, he noted that his love for the 26-year-old Nigerian striker has often drawn criticisms from Ivorian fans.

“Because of him, people from Ivory Coast complain and tell me to go with my Osimhen,” Drogba said.
Then he added, “Osimhen is the kind of person that should inspire the youth, he came from nowhere and then (he’s successful).”

The situation with the Ivorian fans is quite understandable, as Ivory Coast and Nigeria are two of the best footballing countries on the African continent.
The two countries are also two of the most successful African countries. But they do not have any striker on Osimhen’s level at the moment.
Can Victor Osimhen Outdo Didier Drogba?
In terms of goals scored in their careers, Victor Osimhen has 200, while Didier Drogba had 447.
Osimhen definitely has at least six years of top-level football left in him. Moreover, he is not at his peak years yet, so there is a good chance that he will get Drogba’s numbers.

In terms of achievements, Drogba is also better. He won the UEFA Champions League, the Premier League, and the other domestic titles in England.
Nonetheless, with Osimhen’s talent, he can definitely outdo Drogba. However, it is highly unlikely that he will be able to do much at Galatasaray.
