Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche has been hit with three-match ban following his red card in Getafe’s 1-0 loss to Espanyol last weekend, Soccernet.ng reports.

Uche saw red for the second time this season last weekend after he mistakenly stamped on the shin of an Espanyol player. He was first shown a red card, but after a VAR review, the referee changed it to a red.

However, after he was shown the red card, he refused to leave the pitch and moved towards the referee in an aggressive manner. He eventually had to be forced off the pitch by his teammates and some Getafe staff.

Recall that in an earlier report, Soccernet.ng stated that a red card naturally translates to a one-match ban. But it could still be extended to three depending on the circumstances before or after the incident.

Now, per a new report from Eldesmarque, Uche has been handed a three-match ban by LaLiga. One of the matches has already been struck off, as he was not listed for the game against Real Madrid. So Uche now has two games left. Hence, he will miss the games against Rayo Vallecano and Valencia

Christantus Uche has a bright future, but he has to stop getting red cards

Christantus Uche is rated as one of the bright young stars in football, attracting clubs like Chelsea, West Ham, and the likes. However, this his growing penchant for getting red cards is not good for his career.

Moreso, his behavior afterwards was nothing short of appauling. If he wants to become one of the top midfielders in the, he has to also control his temper.

Uche is yet to get a call-up to the Super Eagles, but if does not get better, he may never get it.
