Chrome for iOS now allows adding text to Google Lens image search

If you use Google Chrome for web browsing on your iPhone, you’ll soon find some new features. One such feature that Google announced allows Chrome users on iOS to add text to Google Lens image searches. It’s worth noting that all the new features are already available for users who use the Android version of the Chrome app.

Google Chrome on iOS already allows using Google Lens to search for an image on your iPhone. In addition, you could also search for an image taken from your iPhone’s camera. The new feature will allow you to add text alongside the image. It’ll eventually help you narrow down your search and get the desired results.

The updated Chrome app for iOS also allows saving images and files including PDFs from the web directly to Google Photos and Google Drive. You’ll find a new option to save the file to Google Drive. Besides, long-pressing on an image will display the “Save in Google Photos” option in the context menu. This feature is equally handy as it allows accessing files anytime without taking up your iPhone’s storage.

Shopping Insights and mini-map viewer is also coming

Another feature that Chrome for iOS is borrowing from the Android iteration of the app is Shopping Insights. With this feature in place, Chrome can notify you about a “Google Deal Now” while giving you access to a price tracker right from the address bar. That said, you’ll have to sync your browser history with Google and enable the “Make searches & browsing better” option.

Last but not least, Chrome on iOS now also displays a mini-map viewer. It allows you to tap on an address on a website that you’re browsing and glance at its location on Google Maps. This new feature prevents users from opening Google Maps in another tab or switching to the Google Maps app. Moreover, Google also mentioned that more features are coming to the iOS version of the Google Chrome app.
