SUPER Eagles of Nigeria winger Samuel Chukwueze starred for Fulham tonight as they earned their first English Premier League away victory of the season by beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1.
Chukwueze, making his first Fulham start since joining from AC Milan in the summer, assisted his side’s first goal, went close to scoring himself and was named the official man of the match.
Tottenham’s woeful Premier League home form continued thanks to early goals by Kenny Tete and Harry Wilson.
Tete’s deflected shot put the visitors ahead after four minutes, set up by Chukwueze, and two minutes later Wilson took advantage of Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario’s mistake with a stunning second.
Fulham should have been home and dry before half-time with Chukwueze denied by ... and then by a goal-saving tackle by Micky van de Ven as Tottenham wobbled.
However, the hosts improved after the break and dominated the game after Ghana forward Mohammed Kudus halved the deficit in the 59th minute with a powerful dipping shot.
Tottenham were unable to salvage anything though and have not won a home league match since the opening weekend.
They are in 10th place on 18 points while 15th-placed Fulham, who had lost their last five away league games, moved six points above the relegation zone.
Chukwueze’s fellow Nigeria internationals Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey also started for Fulham and played key roles in the win.
