SAMUEL Chukwueze made his first assist in Fulham’s colours tonight, but they were still beaten 3-1 by Bournemouth in their English Premier League clash at the Vitality Stadium.
The Super Eagles winger joined Fulham on loan from AC Milan in September and came on as a second-half substitute tonight for his second appearance, replacing Harry Wilson in the 67th minute.
Three minutes after his introduction, Chukwueze set up the opening goal of the match to give Fulham the lead.
Ryan Sessegnon ran onto a through pass from Chukwueze before clipping the ball over Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.
Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo scored twice to give Bournemouth the victory in stormy conditions and move them up to second in the Premier League table.
Bournemouth levelled in the 78th minute when Semenyo got the ball on the left wing, beat several players and stopped the ball going over the touchline before slotting a shot through Bernd Leno’s legs from a tight angle.
Then substitute Justin Kluivert got the ball in the centre circle, charged forward and unleashed an unstoppable strike from 25 yards to put Bournemouth ahead six minutes later.
As Fulham pushed forward for an equaliser in stoppage time, Semenyo capped a superb individual night with his second goal – to go with an assist – after finishing off an emphatic counter-attack.
Chukwueze’s Super Eagles colleagues, Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi, both started for Fulham, with the latter taken off four minutes from time.
Bournemouth are now second in the Premier League table, just one point below leaders Liverpool, while Fulham are 11th.
