The Nigeria Police Force has issued a warning to Nigerian women, cautioning that collecting transport fare from men and failing to show up is a punishable offence.
According to the Police, such acts fall under obtaining money under false pretence, which is classified as a criminal offence under Nigerian law.
The warning comes amid growing reports of women allegedly collecting money for visits or outings but later refusing to honour the agreement.
Police authorities emphasized that offenders risk arrest and prosecution, urging women to desist from such fraudulent practices.
They also encouraged men who fall victim to report such cases at the nearest police station, assuring that justice will be pursued.
