Colleen Hoover's Regretting You RT Audience Score Is 3 Times Higher Than Disappointing Critic Score

Regretting You is performing much better on the Popcornmeter than the Tomatometer. 2025’s Regretting You, which stars Dave Franco, Allison Williams, Mckenna Grace, and Mason Thames, is based on the novel of the same name by It Ends with Us author Colleen Hoover. It currently has a disappointing Rotten Tomatoes score of 30% from 53 critics.

While its Tomatometer score is firmly Rotten, now that Regretting You is officially in theaters, audiences have been able to share their own opinions on Rotten Tomatoes. While the score could fluctuate as more reviews are added, at the time of writing, the movie now has more than 100 verified user reviews that have earned it an impressive Popcornmeter score of 90%.

Not only does this score triple its dismal Tomatometer score, it puts Regretting You in a range where it could eventually become Verified Hot by the review aggregator platform as long as it maintains this level of audience enthusiasm when more reviews are added.

While Rotten Tomatoes’ metric only records whether a review is positive or negative, users’ individual Regretting You reviews are also particularly strong. The majority of the verified reviews that it currently has are giving it scores of 4.5 and 5 stars out of 5, indicating that it has been generating particularly strong reactions from its core audience.

Viewers’ reviews indicate that they generally agree that the movie is successfully romantic, charmingly comedic, and an instant new comfort movie classic. Additionally, many audience members find the romance between Mason Thames and Mckenna Grace’s characters appealing, especially in the wake of rumors that the actors are dating in real life.

So far, Regretting You is not poised to become a runaway box office hit, as it is expected to debut at No. 3 or No. 4 over the weekend, behind the anime release Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, the music biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, and potentially the sophomore weekend of the horror sequel Black Phone 2 (which also stars Mason Thames).

While the previous Colleen Hoover adaptation, 2024’s It Ends with Us, was a smash hit that earned $351 million against its reported $25 million budget, it did so while propelled by reports of on-set discord between its stars, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. Regretting You is not generating quite as many headlines, in spite of its backstage romance rumors.

However, if this Popcornmeter score for Regretting You holds over the course of its first week in theaters, it could prove that the new romance movie has what it takes to become a word-of-mouth hit before the end of its run.
