Commonwealth Tax Administrators have applauded FIRS Chairman Adedeji for global impact.

NaijaOnPoint Nigeria reports that the Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators (CATA) has praised the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji, for his exceptional leadership and strategic contributions to the global tax community.

This Nigeria news platform understands that Adedeji received the commendation during CATA’s 96th Management Committee meeting held on Thursday at Broadway House in the United Kingdom.

In a statement issued by Sikiru Akinola, Technical Assistant on Media to the FIRS Chairman, both CATA Executive Director Dr. Esther Koisin and Chairman Mr. Mahmad Noor lauded Adedeji’s impactful role in the administration of the association. They highlighted his strategic insight and consistent support, which they described as instrumental to the organization’s progress.

 

The duo also recognized the broader support provided by the FIRS and the Nigerian government to CATA’s mission, underscoring the commitment of Nigerian officials; including the country’s representative and correspondent to strengthening the secretariat and reinforcing Nigeria’s influence within the global tax arena.

Under Adedeji’s stewardship, FIRS has significantly boosted Nigeria’s fiscal framework, with tax revenues contributing nearly 65% of total inflows to the Federation Account in 2024, a record that reflects the agency’s growing role in national economic stability.

Responding to the recognition, Adedeji who recently concluded his tenure as CATA President expressed gratitude for the accolades from his peers. He reaffirmed his dedication to advancing tax administration across the Commonwealth, emphasizing collaboration and continued reform.

CATA, headquartered in London, comprises 47 member countries and aims to foster effective and innovative tax administration, with a particular focus on supporting developing economies.
