Nollywood actress, Biodun Okeowo, better known as Omoborty, has weighed in on the ongoing trends of comparing celebrity weddings.
Naijaonpoint reports that the thespian, in a post via Instagram on Friday, stated that the size or glamour of a wedding does not determine the success of a marriage.
Omoborty also stated that the party does not reflect riches, as everyone has the right to celebrate in their own style.
According to the film star, it is childish to compare and argue about weddings, adding that some couples even go into debt to fund their dream wedding, reminding people that marriage should be about the couple’s happiness, not outsiders’ ratings.
She wrote, “Money can decorate hall but it can’t decorate marriage. So let’s stop confusing money with taste. They are not the same thing. The level of wedding doesn’t equate the sucess of the marriage.
“Wealth or no wealth does not decide taste. Some like it simple, some extravagant, some in between. A party does not prove riches, it reflects personality. Rich or poor, people have the right to celebrate in their own stle. Comparing weddings and arguing whose is better is childish. What exactly are poeple going to do with the ratings.
“An intimate wedding does not mean there is no money and elaborate wedding does not automatically prove wealth. Some even go into debt just to have the lavish wedding of their dreams. Marriage for most happens once, so the wedding should be the couple’s dream, done in whatever way they choose, without having any right to water down their joy or make comparison.”
