The North West geo-political zone in the Senate has fixed 18th and 19th of this month as new dates for zonal public hearing on constitution review exercise.

The North West geo-political zone in the Senate has fixed 18th and 19th of this month as new dates for zonal public hearing on constitution review exercise.

Zonal public hearings for the exercise were held across the remaining five geo-political zones in the country on the 4th and 5th of this month.

However, the one for the North West scheduled for Kano in Kano State, was suspended by the Senate on Tuesday last week during plenary being mourning period by people of the State for late Alhaji Aminu Dantata who died in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirate on Saturday, June 28, 2025 and buried in Madina , Saudi Arabia on Monday, June 30, 2025 .

Announcement of new dates for the North West public hearing on Constitution review was made by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin during plenary on Wednesday.

Senator Barau who presided over the plenary, urged all senators across the 21 Senatorial Districts in the zone to attend the zonal public hearing and facilitate attendance of their constituents at the slated event for required peoples inputs into the very important exercise.

Senator Barau in the announcement signed by him as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Constitution Review, also urged all concerned Nigerians in the zone to come up with their memoranda on areas of amendments they want in the constitution.
