Federal prosecutors are sharpening their case against Lil Durk as the rapper prepares for a high-stakes trial in Los Angeles, with the government making it clear that it intends to put multiple cooperating witnesses on the stand to detail an alleged murder-for-hire plot.
In a recent court filing, per AllHipHop, prosecutors said insiders are expected to testify that Durk orchestrated and financed the 2022 killing of Lul Pab, a relative of rapper Quando Rondo, who was shot near a Beverly Hills gas station.
Authorities claim the attack was part of a cycle of retaliation following the 2020 death of Durk’s close friend and artist King Von.
According to the filing, witnesses will describe how the alleged plan came together, including travel arrangements, logistics and promised payment. Prosecutors wrote that Durk’s testimony will place him at the center of the operation, alleging that he approved the plan and relied on trusted intermediaries to carry it out.
“The government’s proposed evidence also provides critical corroboration,” prosecutors said, noting that several witnesses are expected to tell the same story.
Durk was taken into custody in October 2024 and later charged in federal court. He has denied all allegations and remains jailed as pretrial proceedings continue.
Defense attorneys have pushed to exclude testimony and materials they argue would unfairly depict Durk and his Only the Family collective as a criminal enterprise. Prosecutors counter that the evidence is essential for jurors to understand the alleged relationships and motivations behind the case. A judge is expected to rule on the scope of admissible evidence at an upcoming January hearing.
