The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has called on Nigerians to match their excitement and renewed hopes for 2026 with a firm commitment to zero tolerance for economic and financial crimes.
Olukoyede made the call in Abuja on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, in his New Year message to the nation.
According to the EFCC boss, while the euphoria that comes with the beginning of a new year is natural and gladdening, it must also awaken a deeper sense of responsibility and accountable conduct among citizens.
He said such renewed commitment was necessary to make Nigeria an enviable and sustainably great nation.
“As we welcome the new year with excitement and renewed hopes, let us renew our commitment and channel our energy to the paths of accountability and zero tolerance for corruption,” Olukoyede said.
The EFCC chairman expressed optimism that Nigeria would eventually break free from the shackles of poverty and deprivation, noting that collective discipline and integrity were crucial to achieving this goal.
He stressed that the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu was anchored on restoring Nigeria’s greatness and improving the lives of citizens.
“We can make Nigeria greater. This is the pivot of the Renewed Hope agenda of Mr President. Nigeria will rise again,” Olukoyede said.
He concluded by wishing Nigerians a happy and more fulfilling 2026, urging them to support efforts aimed at entrenching transparency, accountability and good governance across all sectors of the country.
