The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday affirmed Chief Kenneth Udeze as the duly elected National Chairman of Action Alliance (AA), putting to rest a protracted leadership dispute within the party.
The judgement, delivered by Justice Obiora Egwuatu, dismissed a legal action brought by aggrieved party member Adekunle Rufai Omoaje. The plaintiff, in suit FHC/CS/12/2024, had challenged Udeze’s leadership and sought validation for a national convention reportedly held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, which he claimed produced an alternative set of party executives.
In delivering the ruling, Justice Egwuatu upheld arguments from Udeze’s lawyer, Mr. Ezenwa Ibegbunam, who questioned the competence of the suit. Citing a range of established legal precedents, the court held that the action lacked merit and dismissed it in its entirety.
Reacting to the judgement, Chief Udeze described it as a landmark decision that resolves the long-standing leadership tussle. He said the verdict not only reaffirmed the rule of law in Nigeria but also laid to rest “illegal and fictitious claims over the party leadership.”
Udeze also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for respecting due process and upholding the law in the way it handled the leadership matter, further consolidating his position at the helm of the party.
