An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Friday, ordered the remand of a 37-year-old man, Sunday Ogboninu, at the Ado-Ekiti correctional centre, over alleged murder.

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Friday, ordered the remand of a 37-year-old man, Sunday Ogboninu, at the Ado-Ekiti correctional centre, over alleged murder.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, was charged with alleged murder, but his plea was not taken.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, ordered his remand in custody, pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The court, adjourned the case untill Aug. 21, for mention.
According to the charge, the defendant was alleged to have committed the offence on March 21, at Osan-Ekiti.
The prosecutor, Insp. Akinwale Oriyomi, alleged that the defendant killed one Olaiya Wasiu.
Oriyomi said that according to the statement of the deceased’s wife, the deceased and his wife were coming from the farm, when the defendant confronted them and accused the deceased of stealing his rubber bucket.
The deceased was said to have denied the allegation.
He alleged that in an ensuing argument, the defendant shot the deceased dead in the presence of his wife.
The offence contravenes the provisions of Section 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021..(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
